ROMEO IN TRANSITION

"Romeo in transition" is as highly ambitious an artistic project as it is a very fine piece of work. It is an important step forward both for 3J and for the artist in question, Romeo Scaccia. We are talking here about the release of a cd which will mark a turning point for this pianist who was born in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) although whose first ‘baby steps’ as an artist were taken right here in Sardinia.
Besides being his debut cd ‘Romeo in transition’ clearly marks a distinct move away from the field of classical music where he has earned numerous awards and honours and achieved undisputed recognition at international level, but particularly in Europe and the States.
‘Romeo in transition’ was recorded in May, 2007 and was taken from and inspired by the exhilirating performance given on the prestigious Blue Note stage in Milan – namesake of the historic jazz club in New York. There are 12 songs on the cd (10 brand new) which undeniably blend classical music with jazz together with a hint, here and there, of the ‘scents’ of Sardinia. Such an outstanding cd rightly deserves the best including worldwide distribution and a promotional tour in Europe, America and Asia. Romeo Scaccia’s tour will be divided into two phases – one as solo pianist and the other in the group composed of guitarist Frank Gambale, saxophonist Andy Snitzer, bass guitarist Abraham Laboriel, and, on drums Curt Bisquera. By the way, with regards Snitzer, both he and the ‘maestro’ Scaccia together with Gadd recently recorded the track, ‘Not yet’ to be included on the forthcoming cd.

INNOCENT SOUL

This, above all others, is the one major project using up personnel and financial resources here at 3J production. A music project worth 250 million dollars that has brought together five states : New York (piano, drums, and saxophone); California (bass guitar); Great Britain (choir); Holland (percussion); Norway and Japan (voices); and Italy (guitar and percussion); and that has enlisted the collaboration not only of one of the best sound engineers in the world, Bojan Dugic, but also that of the recording studio most highly thought of by ‘the Star’ – namely the Legacy studio in New York.
‘Innocent soul’ is the title of the track written by 3J’s director and producer, Gianfranco Piga and is the culmination of a three-year period of intense work and recording in ten different recording studios.
In order to realise this dream of 3 minutes and 51 seconds of the song, ‘Innocent soul’, eight of the most esteemed musicians in the worlds of jazz, pop and rock have come together : Andy Snitzer on saxophone, Steve Gadd on drums, Abraham Laboriel on bass guitar, Frank Gambale on guitar, Romeo Scaccia on piano, Andrea Cutri on guitar, and Nando Russo and Joseph Piga on percussion. Note : all arrangements by Gianfranco Piga and Romeo Scaccia.
